Manchester United v West Ham: Red Devils to Hammer their Bogey Side to Remain in Pole Position?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

On paper this fixture looks a certain Premier 10 ‘home banker’ but when you consider that United have lost their last 3 matches against the Hammers this Premier 10 match takes on a whole different light. It’s also worth considering that the East Londoners have won on 3 of their last 6 trips to the Theatre of Dreams in all competitions. Is it squeaky bum time for the Red Devils? You’d better believe it!

Arsenal v Everton: Everton’s European Finish Gunned Down in Flames?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

I by no means wish to sound patronising but I’m starting to really feel for Everton. For a long stretch of the season, they were strong contenders for fourth; now it’s possible they won’t even get fifth and that I feel would be a strong injustice.

Reading v Tottenham: Spurs are Already Luka-ing to the Future But are the Royals Staring at Relegation?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

The Royals are the last of the recent list of current relegation strugglers to face a Tottenham side who look like they’re already dreaming of a summer on the beach. Spurs have faced the likes of Middlesbrough, Wigan and Bolton in the last 3 games without winning or losing to any of them. Therefore, Premier 10 players should expect a similar outcome from the trip to the Madejski Stadium this weekend.

Should Manchester City be Targeting one of these Men to Replace Sven at Eastlands?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

So Sven Goran Eriksson’s short 9-month reign at Eastlands looks soon to be at an end. Thai owner Thaksin Shinawatra is expected to wield the managerial axe after City’s two remaining Premier League matches.

The Pools Poll: Liverpool Fans - what is worse?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Liverpool fan’s what is worse - losing tonight and not making it through to the Champions League final OR winning tonight and then losing in the final to your arch nemesis Manchester United?

Aston Villa v Wigan: Villa Set to Steal Fifth from Everton

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Villa’s draw with Everton last weekend means the race for fifth place is still well and truly on with Martin O’Neill’s in an excellent position. They may be trailing Everton; they may have missed the opportunity to grab that only European place by the neck but their two remaining fixtures are, on paper, considerably easier than Everton’s and they’d really fancy their chances in this encounter with Wigan.

Bolton v Sunderland: Black Cats Luck to Push Bolton Down the Road to Relegation?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

If you’d asked me three weeks ago if I saw any light at the end of Bolton’s very dismal tunnel, it would have a resounding “No”. Although the light remains just a glimmer, I now think Bolton will live to fight another season.

Middlesbrough v Portsmouth: FA Cup Focus Paves an Opening for Boro?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

From recent results - two defeats and a draw from their last three - it would appear that Portsmouth have a dose of end-of-season syndrome. Now 7th in the league, Europe via 5th spot is near on impossible so time and effort is better spent conserving energy for their trip to Wembley.

Fulham v Birmingham: Cottagers Keep their Survival Hopes Alive as the Championship Beckons for the Blues?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

This is arguably the most important Premier League match of the weekend as a defeat for either side will leave them with an uphill task of securing their survival on the last day of the season. The teams directly above this pair (Bolton and Reading) both have home fixtures this weekend which you’d expect them to get points from. So Fulham in particular really do need all 3 points to stand a fighting chance of safety.

Blackburn v Derby: Robbie’s Rams Savaged by Rovers?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

The rock bottom Rams travel to Ewood Park this weekend for the penultimate game of their miserable season-long stay in the Premier League. Derby have now gone nearly 8 months without a League victory and I would advise Premier 10 players not to back them to end that run at Blackburn this weekend.
