Whoever Wins the Premier League, I Want the Other to Win the Champions League

Credit to Lampard for his ultimate composureThe Champions League is set. Moscow is poised while it’s workers are processing visa’s ten to the dozen. For the past few seasons, with the odd exception, winners of the Champions League have struggled to mount any kind of domestic title charge.

AC Milan finished 4th and 3rd in Serie A when they lifted the European Cup last year and in 2003, Real Madrid finished 3rd and 5th in La Liga in 2002 and 2000 and then of course there was all that controversy when Liverpool finished fifth in the league in 2005.

Success in both the champions and domestic league is rare. With the exception of Barcelona and Porto (and how much of a challenge was the Portugeuse league?!) the highest position the Champions League winners from the past 6 seasons have finished is third.

Cheering alongside Sir Alex just seems wrong!And now we run the risk of a Manchester United or Chelsea double. So that’s why I’m saying whoever lifts the Premier League trophy, I’ll be supporting the other in the Champions League final. I don’t want no doubles happening here especially with the two teams involved! Imagine how unbearable they would be…
