This article wasn't derogatory to LFC. It was a candid analysis of our season, and our recent history in the league. Every summer I say to myself - wait till next season. Well, I'm saying it again, but I really couldn't handle it if we were out of the race again before xmas. especially if it goes to our hated rival in the north-east, which, if they also win this season's league, will equal our record number of league wins. I relly do feel however, that next year we'll win bloody well everything.

To date, Liverpool have lost fewer League games than Manchester United this season and it was their 13 draws that ended any hopes of a serious title challenge. Of those 13 draws only 4 were deserved. 2 games v Arsenal, Portsmouth away and Chelsea away. The other 9 draws came in games Liverpool dominated where they squandered chance after chance.

IF they had a little bit more quality OR Benitez had used the current formation earlier in the season then those draws WOULD have been wins and the 18 points dropped would have made the table look completely different and Liverpool COULD have been crowned Champions with a couple of games to spare.

The Boardroom saga and the managers future uncertain, must have disrupted them and the few 'average' players he used probably did not help either.

Let's not be fooled by this Liverpool team. IF Benitez can improve his full backs, wingers and another 'quality' striker then they have every possible chance of winning 2009 league title.

They are not as far away as some people think and if fine tuned for next season then articles like this wont be anywhere to be seen.
