Everton Go Down the Reality Route to Land a New Youngster
Reality TV shows have invaded our lives and now they have invaded the football transfer market. Everton have landed Jin Hui - otherwise known in his homeland of China as the Soccer Prince!
Soccer Prince is a Chinese television show that sees 14-19 year old wannabe footballers compete for a place in the Everton academy. The best three players will then be invited to join three professional clubs, Everton, Bolton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest and Jin Hui is the player winging his way to Goodison.
Not much is known about the 19-year-old only that he was put through his paces along with thousands of others at specially designated training camps in front of television cameras - with a watching audience of 130 million people!
So is this what the game is starting to come to? Following a X-Factor and Pop Idol style template to land some cheap deals?
Jin Hui is in good standing though. He’s going to be within the same academy and coaching programme that nurtured the likes of first team regulars Leon Osman and Tony Hibbert as well as youngsters James Vaughan and Victor Anichebe and of course the now Manchester United wonder that is Wayne Rooney. Just bear in mind though for every Leona Lewis there is a Michelle McManus.
