Transfer News: Arsenal set for a Mexican Wave with Wenger latest young gun
There’s no rest for Arsene Wenger. After finishing the season without any form of silverware, it’s back to the drawing board for the Frenchman. And his first port of call? 19 year old Mexican striker Carlos Vela.
The young Gunner has been out on loan at Spanish side Osasuna for the entire of the 2007/08 season where he’s made 32 appearances and netted 3 goals. That may not sound all that impressive but the youngster was played out on the left wing instead of as a central striker. Wenger, however, plans to stick him upfront after describing him as “an Eduardo type central striker”.
Vela has also already had three international caps for Mexico making his full international debut against Brazil, scoring his first senior international goal in a friendly against Guatemala and, most recently, starting in Mexico’s 2-2 draw in their friendly with the USA in February.
So what are the feelings out there? Can Arsene Wenger’s ability to nurture the players of tomorrow strike gold again? Or should he be looking for higher profiled, more experienced players to bring instant success to the Emirates?

this kid is the best around, strong, quick, skillful, he’s arsenal’s version of cristiano ronaldo, with his arrival we could see bentner leaving as he’s a support player, with adebayor & van persie as main strikers, he will be used alongside the fully recovered eduardo for the season ahead!
keep your eyes peeled with this boy wonder

How is Vela the Arsenal Ronaldo? LOL!
On the wing for Osasuna he’s netted 3 times this season.
Ronaldo on the Wing in the toughest League in the world has scored 31 goals AND another 16 in the cup tournaments. That’s 47 goals!!!!!!
Wenger will be sticking Vela up front as a striker, so he’ll be even less like Ronaldo (who’s a Winger).
Vela is ok in a Walcott sort of way … at the moment. Give him a a couple of season’s to find his feet, and who knows.

Arsenal1Again: First of all, you cant compare Vela when he first arrives in the prem to ronaldo after 3-4 seasons. Ronny wasnt all that before he arrived.
Vela is a striker, down the middle or either side of a front 3. Where has ronaldo played this season? hugging the touchline? hell no, he’s played a free role across the front. He’s not a winger, even if thats what he’s listed as on your FIFA 08 game. He plays in a strikers role.
If Vela is ok in a walcott way, that sounds ok to me, walcott will have his best season next year, as will vela.
