Rangers striker Kris Boyd is set for a £3.5m move to Birmingham as Rangers look to sell off a number of their prized assets this January. Walter Smith brought in 3 new strikers to the club in the summer in the shape of Kenny Miller, Andrius Velicka and Kyle Lafferty. The need to sell was increased following Rangers surprising early exit from Europe despite last season’s big money departure of Alan Hutton to Spurs and Carlos Cuellar’s £7.8m move to Aston Villa in the summer.

The long running Andrei Arshavin transfer saga could finally be about to end with the long-term Tottenham target set to join Arsene Wenger at Arsenal. Spurs interest in the player seems to have ended following Harry Redknapp’s arrival at the club allowing the Gunners a free run at the Zenit St Petersburg player.

Reports suggest Middlesbrough are set to begin a Premier League bidding war for Celtic’s flying winger Aiden McGeady this month which will alert a number of his admirers including Newcastle, Spurs, Aston Villa and Sunderland.

When Cristiano Ronaldo looked set to join Real Madrid in the summer, Manchester United were strongly linked with a move for one of the brightest South American starlets in world football… Chile’s Alexis Sanchez. However, with Ronaldo remaining at the club the interest in Sanchez wasn’t stepped up but United’s loss could be another Premier League club’s gain if he were to move to England in the January transfer window.

Plenty of Premier League clubs are crying out for creative wingers and one player that was strongly linked to the a move to England in the summer was the exciting young Turkish winger Arda Turan. It remains to be seen whether any clubs make their move but with Stewart Downing attempting to leave the Riverside a player of Arda’s talent would be a more than an adequate replacement.

Udinese midfielder has been the subject of much interest from the Premier League during the summer with Everton, Newcastle and Arsenal heavily linked to the Swiss sensation. However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has distanced himself from a January transfer window move for the player despite confirming he was interested in signing the defensive midfield star in the last window. This week he declared when asked about his intentions to sign the Udinese player “Yes, in the summer,” but importantly stating, “But not any more.”

Lens striker Aruna Dindane is openly seeking a move to the Premier League in the January transfer window now he has returned to full fitness following a cruciate knee ligament injury. The highly-rated African star is being targeted by the likes of Marseille and PSG but his agent has openly admitted that his client is eyeing a move to England and his club have confirmed there are no shortage of admirers.

If you were asked to name who the current top scorer in Europe was you’d expect one of the biggest names in club football to be at the top of your list. Strikers like Samuel Eto’o of Barcelona, Luca Toni of Bayern or Nicolas Anelka of Chelsea. Instead the top scorer is a little known Austrian by the name of Marc Janko who has scored a staggering 30 League goals in just 20 appearances (18 starts) this season.

Press reports suggest that Manchester City are set to win the race for the signature of Blackburn’s Paraguayan international striker Roque Santa Cruz in the January transfer window for anything from £15m upwards. However after scoring just 3 League goals this season for Rovers would this be too high a price for a striker who has only enjoyed one prolific season in his career.
