We’re all aware of the stats between Liverpool and Manchester United. United have had much success in this tie both home and away and Liverpool’s last league win a dated four years ago. However, in the competition where Liverpool thrive, could they have inflicted some good old fashion revenge on their arch rivals? In other words, would we be poised for a better match tonight had Liverpool done the business against Chelsea?

Friday, May 16th, 2008

There is mounting speculation that a number of Chelsea players will be leaving this summer and Portuguese centre-half Ricardo Carvalho has announced he could be one of them. Whatever the result of next weeks Champions League final they’ll be a number of players departing and arriving at the Bridge. Are Liverpool Forever on the Verge of Greatness?

Friday, May 9th, 2008

I got a fair bit of stick the other day when I described Liverpool’s season as being ‘lacklustre even in their precious Champions League.’ On reflection I can see why such comments were jumped on but when you take a close, unbiased look at Liverpool, it really has been another (not that) close but no cigar season for the Reds.

Birmingham v Liverpool: Champions League Panic for Liverpool Provides a Silver Lining to the Blues Relegation Rain Cloud?

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Poor, old John Arne Riise! No scrap that, John Arne Riise - what were you thinking? If the ball’s that low, boot it into row z, never, ever double over and head it. Liverpool’s nightmare finale to the first leg of their Champions League semi final has certainly given the second leg that ‘game on’ feel; add that to their seven point cushion for fourth place and you have to wonder just how focused they will be for this run in.

Advantage Chelsea after the imposing influence of TV swings in their favour

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

It’s a pretty safe assumption to say we’d all be made up with a world where there was football on TV every single day. Likewise I’d be secure in saying most guy’s partners wouldn’t be particularly thrilled ay the prospect - expect for mine clearly! But maybe they have a point. No doubt TV ratings would soar but could such a thing actually damage football?

Toffees Come Unstuck: Where Did Everton’s Season Go off the Rails?

Friday, April 18th, 2008

In the last few weeks the wheels have well and truly come off Everton’s exciting season. A string of poor results has left them trailing in their Merseyside rivals wake. The home defeat to Chelsea on Thursday night even saw the players booed from the pitch by the Goodison Park faithful. Whilst Champions League football was the club’s target a few weeks ago, the loss of momentum could see David Moyes’ team end the season without even Uefa Cup qualification to show for their exploits.
