West Bromwich Albion v Fulham: The Baggies Carry On Their Winning Ways?

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

It’s been around two and a half years since West Brom and Fulham last met, a time Baggies fans would rather like to sweep under the carpet; the Londoners thrashed West Brom 6-1 in February 2006. This however was at Craven Cottage. Tales from the Hawthorns cast a much different picture, one that the Baggies can take some heart from especially after their sterling win away to Middlesbrough last week.

Fulham v Bolton: There’s No Place Like Home for the Cottagers

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

2-1, thems the magic numbers between these two teams. Four of last six league matches between Fulham and Bolton have finished with a 2-1 score line and the home team celebrating. And £200k and £40,000 are the magic numbers for The New Football Pools as this week Footy 15 has a staggering £200,000 jackpot and it’s a Premier 10 rollover too with £40,000 there to win.

Hull v Fulham: A Happy Welcome or a Strong Dose of Reality for the Tigers?

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

16 August 2008 will forever be a momentous date in Hull City’s history for on the stroke of three, The Tigers kick off their first top flight campaign. Hopes may not be high with many expecting this season’s newly promoted sides to be even less equipped for the Championship-Premier League transition than those of last season. Yet with a couple of decent signings under their belt, definite experience at overcoming the odds and a “what could be worse” opening game against Fulham, perhaps, just perhaps…

Portsmouth v Fulham: A Fighting Fulham Perfectly Mimic the Great Escape?

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Fulham’s destiny - yes the corny clichés are coming out in abundance on this appropriately dubbed Judgement Day - is ultimately in their own hands. Great results against Reading, Manchester City and Birmingham saw Fulham move out of the drop zone for the first time since Boxing Day. Question is can they pull out all the stops for one final time?

Bolton, Birmingham, Reading or Fulham – Relegation Beckons But For Which Two

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

The end of the season is nigh and what’s great is competition is still rife in all areas of the league. So with this in mind from now until D-Day, Judgement Day, Silverware Sunday - or whatever appropriately titled pun Sky Sports creatively(!) come up with - I am sticking my neck on the line (after looking at the stats mind) and predicting who’ll go down, who’ll lift the trophy and who’ll nap fifth place. Today - it’s the R word.

Fulham v Birmingham: Cottagers Keep their Survival Hopes Alive as the Championship Beckons for the Blues?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

This is arguably the most important Premier League match of the weekend as a defeat for either side will leave them with an uphill task of securing their survival on the last day of the season. The teams directly above this pair (Bolton and Reading) both have home fixtures this weekend which you’d expect them to get points from. So Fulham in particular really do need all 3 points to stand a fighting chance of safety.

Manchester City v Fulham: Cottagers Destined for the Drop After Defeat at Eastlands?

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

It’s now or never time for the Cottagers, they remain 5 points adrift of safety with just 9 points to play for. Unfortunately, Fulham’s hopes of survival took a massive blow last weekend when they were well beaten at home by a weakened Liverpool side. Now they travel to face a revitalised Manchester City side aiming for their 3rd successive win on the bounce.

Reading v Fulham: More Misery for Cottagers at the Madejski?

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

The Royals recent excellent run was ended by an emphatic 3-0 defeat at Newcastle last weekend but the visit of Fulham is a chance for Steve Coppell’s men to maintain or build on the current gap between themselves and 3rd from bottom Bolton. It’s a case of now or never for the Cottagers to not only end their 19-month winless away run but also to launch a late survival bid.

Fulham v Sunderland: Wide Smiles on Wearside as Black Cats Win Their 3rd Match on the Bounce?

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Fulham’s failure to win at Pride Park last weekend leaves them in the unenviable position of 19th, six points adrift of safety with just 6 games left. This match is therefore a must win game for the home side.

Derby v Fulham: A Trip to Pride Park Cures Cottagers Travel Sickness?

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

If last weekend’s top 4 sides going head to head constituted a Grand Slam Sunday then this weekend’s meeting between the current bottom two could be easily touted as Quicksand Saturday as both look destined to sink into the Championship come the end of the season. Despite the doom and gloom surrounding both Pride Park and Craven Cottage, both sides will believe this is a match they can win.
