Is Blackburn’s Roque Santa Cruz Really Good Enough to Fill Arsenal’s Adebayor’s Boots or Even Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo’s?

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Coming to Blackburn for a miniscule £3.8m, Roque Santa Cruz is without doubt one of the biggest football bargains. A staggering 23 goals for Rovers in all competitions, plus an additional three for his native Paraguay only highlights one, what vision Mark Hughes has as a manager and two, exactly how much of a bargain the 26-year-old really was (cost just over £150,000 per goal - peanuts in today’s terms).

A Manchester Exit for Ronaldo Would Mean an Open Gate for Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool…And They Know It!

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

They say no one player is bigger than the club and when the club is Manchester United you’d expect that rule to run deeper than most. However, when there is the world’s very best within the ranks does this notion still apply?

Euro 2008: Group A: Portugal v Turkey: Cristiano Ronaldo & Co to Triumph over Turks?

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Euro 2004 hosts and beaten finalists Portugal enter this tournament as one of the dark horses for this competition whilst Turkey are expected to merely make up the numbers in Group A. However, the Turks are no mugs and possess a good mix of youth and experience in their ranks none more so than Newcastle transfer target Arda Turan who is the Turkish equivalent of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Is the Champions League a must-win for Manchester United to keep Cristiano Ronaldo

Friday, May 16th, 2008

The Case for Manchester United’s Defence of the Title

Friday, April 25th, 2008

The two title contenders enter the final weekend of the season with the destination of the Premier League trophy still in the balance. As we all know Manchester United can clinch the title if they win at Wigan this weekend but even a defeat or a draw could still seen them triumph if they better or match Chelsea’s result. The Red Devils are in pole position and rightly so in my opinion. After all, United have been undoubtedly the thoroughbreds in what has ended as a 2-horse title race.

Cristiano Ronaldo: The Man for the Big Occasion or Scourge of the Strugglers?

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo has been widely acclaimed as the best player in the English Premier League right now. This is due to his scintillating performances of both skill and goal scoring on a weekly basis for the Red Devils. However, with United facing Liverpool this weekend we ask the question, can he be regarded as a true great given his relatively non-descript showing against the Premier League powerhouses?

Friday, February 15th, 2008

The top 2 performers in the Premier League meet this weekend at Old Trafford as United take on Arsenal in the FA Cup 5th round. But if you had a choice of either Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese twinkled-toed poser or Emmanuel Adebayor, the Togolese Kanu with strength and goal scoring ability, who would you go for?

TOTTENHAM v MANCHESTER UTD - RED DEVILS EXTINGUISH SPURS WHITE HART LANE FIREPOWER?

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

This will be another major test for the Ramos revolution with the visit of the reigning Champions to the Lane this weekend just a week after United dumped them out of the FA Cup. After ending the club’s Arsenal hoodoo with a resounding Carling Cup semi-final win, Juande’s side need to end a run of 14 matches without a win against the Red Devils (12 defeats). In fact Spurs have won just 3 of the last 35 encounters between the sides, losing 26 of those games. United have also won on their last 6 visits to White Hart Lane including a 4-0 thrashing this time, last year. It could be time to perform another miracle Juande.

Manchester United v Portsmouth - Portsmouth Wave Bon Voyage to Excellent Away Form?

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Two hat-trick heroes meet as Pompey hit the road and head north to Old Trafford. Ronaldo finally netted his first United hat-trick earlier this month when the Reds stuck 6 past a post-Allardyce, pre-Keegan Newcastle. Benjani’s hat-trick against Derby was actually his second of the season. Between them, they are racking up the points in our Fantasy Football game!
