Derby v Sheffield United: Another Ram Raid at Pride Park

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

It’s not been a welcome return to the Championship for Derby. Alongside Burnley, the Rams have scored the fewest league goals so far this term - one. And things aren’t all that likely to vastly improve here as their recent encounters with Sheffield United rarely amount to a goal rush. Alas who needs a goal rush when there’s a £200,000 jackpot on Footy 15 waiting to be won.

Derby Prove the Premier League is no Place for Play-off Winners: Good Luck Hull!

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Derby County were relegated this season after a dismal and embarrassing campaign in the top flight. They recorded just 1 win and 8 draws from 38 games. Despite spending over £15million on new recruits in both the Summer and January transfer windows the rock bottom Rams have looked hopelessly out of their depth in the star-studded Premier League. The statistics tell a story of a suffering season in the top flight. They’ve averaged just over a goal every 2 games whilst conceded an average of over 2 goals in each match. Derby were promoted to the Premier League on the back of a Play-off final win last season which begs the question, do the Play-offs enable teams to reach the top level of English football without the ability to remain there? Hull fans take note.

Liverpool, Wigan, Arsenal and Chelsea finally pick up some silverware

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

We’ve all enjoyed yet another exciting top flight season, well perhaps not all of us (Derby, Birmingham and Reading fans). But the rest of us have knocked back a Premier League cocktail of excitement, thrills, skills, goals, sulks, celebrations, foreign owners, moaning and outrageous refereeing decisions…ahhhh tastes good!

Derby v Reading: The Rams Worst Ever Premier League Season to End in a Right Royal Defeat?

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

After last weekend’s defeat at Blackburn, the Rams have been crowned as officially the worst Premier League team of all time. Their embarrassing campaign will draw to a close with a home match against a Reading team who may be joining them in the Championship next season. The question Premier 10 players must ask themselves is whether a Royals team without a win in 6 matches is good enough to beat the Premier League whipping boys.

Blackburn v Derby: Robbie’s Rams Savaged by Rovers?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

The rock bottom Rams travel to Ewood Park this weekend for the penultimate game of their miserable season-long stay in the Premier League. Derby have now gone nearly 8 months without a League victory and I would advise Premier 10 players not to back them to end that run at Blackburn this weekend.

West Ham v Derby: Another Hammering for the Relegated Rams?

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

We all know the Rams are going down but any thoughts that having their fate already decided would coincide with an upturn in results have been proven incorrect. They remain on course for the worst Premier League season in history and even though the Hammers are ending their season with a whimper themselves, Premier 10 players would be foolish to back anything other than a home win especially after the thrashing Derby received from West Ham back in November.

Relegated Rams Prove the Premier League is no Place for Play-off Winners

Derby County were relegated last weekend after a dismal season in the top flight, they’ve recorded just 1 win and 8 draws from 32 games. Derby v Fulham: A Trip to Pride Park Cures Cottagers Travel Sickness?

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

If last weekend’s top 4 sides going head to head constituted a Grand Slam Sunday then this weekend’s meeting between the current bottom two could be easily touted as Quicksand Saturday as both look destined to sink into the Championship come the end of the season. Despite the doom and gloom surrounding both Pride Park and Craven Cottage, both sides will believe this is a match they can win.

Derby v Sunderland: Keane Cracks a Smile as Sunderland Get Their First Away Win?

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

It’s vastly becoming thought of that any points dropped here at Pride Park are considered a waste. I’m happy to say there are no teams in the Premiership that on coming here would be happy to take just a point in this one. And given Sunderland’s track record against Derby, Roy Keane will be all but demand all three here.

Derby v Manchester City - No Pity from City as the Rams Lose Again?

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Despite Paul Jewell bringing in 5 new signings, the rock bottom Rams continue to struggle at the foot of the Premier League. The not so fabulous 5 have started the last 2 matches at home to Wigan and away at Portsmouth, both have ended in the customary defeat. Derby have now lost their last 5 League matches and have not won a Premier League match since mid September, their only win to date. That’s 17 matches without a win for Jewell’s side, 14 of which ended in defeat. The Rams can’t even find any comfort on their home turf where they have lost their last 7 matches in a row including a defeat to Wigan in the last home game. So the points are looking pretty safe for Sven’s City slickers.
