Tony Cascarino Hails ‘Underrated’ Fulham Striker Andrew Johnson

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

I’m pleased for Andrew Johnson that he’s now starting to score goals for Fulham as for me is one of the most underrated strikers in the Premier League. AJ is more than capable of scoring lots of goals at this level and his work-rate for a striker is simply exceptional. Roy Hodgson will have to rely on Johnson to keep his side out of trouble this season as if they can keep the lad fit, then he’ll always score goals.

Do Refs Get Too Much Criticism From Top Bosses?

Monday, November 10th, 2008

Joe Kinnear, who famously opened his spell at Newcastle by swearing 52 times in a 5 minute press conference, is in trouble again over the words leaving his mouth. This time it’s an altogether more-childlike phrase that has got Joe in bother, after he described Martin Atkinson as a ‘Mickey Mouse referee’ following Newcastle’s defeat at Fulham.

West Bromwich Albion v Fulham: The Baggies Carry On Their Winning Ways?

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

It’s been around two and a half years since West Brom and Fulham last met, a time Baggies fans would rather like to sweep under the carpet; the Londoners thrashed West Brom 6-1 in February 2006. This however was at Craven Cottage. Tales from the Hawthorns cast a much different picture, one that the Baggies can take some heart from especially after their sterling win away to Middlesbrough last week.

Fulham v West Ham: Hodgson’s Heroes Heap More Away Day Misery on Hammers?

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Carling Cup victims Fulham and West Ham clash at Craven Cottage this weekend looking to bounce back from midweek defeats to Championship sides. The Cottagers boast a 100% record at home in all competitions this season but face a Hammers side they’ve struggled against in recent seasons.

Blackburn Rovers v Fulham: All Square at Ewood?

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Fulham have enjoyed a great start to the season despite defeat on the opening day at Hull. Since then the Cottagers have enjoyed three straight wins in all competitions and last weekend finally gave a debut to Andrew Johnson in their convincing 2-1 home victory over Bolton.

Fulham v Bolton: There’s No Place Like Home for the Cottagers

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

2-1, thems the magic numbers between these two teams. Four of last six league matches between Fulham and Bolton have finished with a 2-1 score line and the home team celebrating. And £200k and £40,000 are the magic numbers for The New Football Pools as this week Footy 15 has a staggering £200,000 jackpot and it’s a Premier 10 rollover too with £40,000 there to win.

Fulham v Arsenal: No Joy for Roy as Emmanuel Guns Down Cottagers?

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

The Cottagers new look side got off to a poor start as they were the first scalps of newly promoted Hull, now they face an Arsenal side they hardly have the best of records against. Not the ideal beginning for Roy Hodgson’s first full season in charge then.

Tony Cascarino’s Column: Chelsea Superior, Manchester United to Struggle at Portsmouth, Fulham Perfect for Arsenal, Aston Villa to Overpower Stoke & Spurs Needs Anchorman

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

The first weekend of the season was a great one with lots of good football and a few shocks along the way. However, there’s no shock I am top of the Football Pools Pundit’s table though to be fair we are all going to have good and bad weeks. Unfortunately Alan Hansen had a bad one but it could be me next week so I won’t gloat too much.

Mark Bresciano: Socceroo’s Serie A Star Chased by Rangers, Newcastle, Fulham, Blackburn and West Ham

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Reports today suggest that Rangers have bid £4m for Australian midfielder Mark Bresciano though they may well face stiff competition from a number of Premier League clubs for the Serie A star. It’s thought that West Ham, Blackburn, Newcastle and Fulham are all interested in the left-sided midfelder’s services. The 28-year-old is available after spending the last two seasons with Serie A side Palermo where he’s frequently become a bit-part player.

Hull v Fulham: A Happy Welcome or a Strong Dose of Reality for the Tigers?

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

16 August 2008 will forever be a momentous date in Hull City’s history for on the stroke of three, The Tigers kick off their first top flight campaign. Hopes may not be high with many expecting this season’s newly promoted sides to be even less equipped for the Championship-Premier League transition than those of last season. Yet with a couple of decent signings under their belt, definite experience at overcoming the odds and a “what could be worse” opening game against Fulham, perhaps, just perhaps…
