Young Italian Midfield Starlet Set to Join New Look Arsenal

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Rumours are circulating concerning Arsenal currently being in negotiations with Italian giants Roma concerning the signing of midfield star Alberto Aquilani. The 23-year-old international has been linked with a move to the Emirates and Valencia in the past but it would seem the Gunners have now moved into pole position.

Arsenal to Replace Adebayor with Blackburn’s South American Star if Lure of Barcelona Proves too Strong?

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Arsene Wenger has been linked to a move for Blackburn’s Roque Santa Cruz if Emmanuel Adebayor decides to leave to join the Catalan giants Barcelona. With Frank Rijkaard being replaced by Barca legend Josep Guardiola there is expected to be a major upheaval at the Camp Nou with a number of comings and goings. Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto’o and Thierry Henry are all expected to depart so it’s no surprise that the Gunners Togolese hitman is being linked with arguably the biggest club in Europe.

£12Million French Wonderkid on his Way to Arsenal or Will Real Madrid or Inter Get There First?

Friday, May 16th, 2008

The latest young wonderkid heavily linked to Arsenal is Marseille’s Samir Nasri. The French international is one of the hottest properties in Europe having been tagged the ‘new Zidane’. Despite recently signing a new contract at the Stade Velodrome the players’ manager Eric Gerets has been quoted as saying he’ll be leaving the club this summer if a big enough offer comes in. After Flamini’s free transfer to AC Milan and Hleb’s reportedly imminent departure to join him in Serie A the North London giants definitely need some fresh blood to increase the belief around the Emirates that they can compete with the likes of United and Chelsea.

Are Arsenal Facing a ‘Chaotic’ Summer After Hleb Announces he wants to Leave?

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

The Gunners could be facing a summer of upheaval as another top star looks set to depart for Italy. Alexander Hleb could be following his former midfield team-mate Mathieu Flamini out of the Premier League and into Serie A. His reasoning is explained by his agent Nikolai Shpilevski when he said, “Alex is tired of the noisy and chaotic life in London and feels like living in calmer surroundings.” Er, ok so London is too chaotic is it Alex? Surely you had a bit of an idea about the place before you signed? The Belarusian’s likeliest destination is reported to be Inter Milan but that could all depend of the amount of noise the people in the city make when he arrives for contract talks, perhaps Norwich would be nicer!

Sunderland v Arsenal: Gunners to End the Season with a Bang?

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

With news that Mathieu Flamini is set for pastures new with the strong possibility of Alexander Hleb following in the near future another cup less season appears more and more costly for Arsenal. So can the Gunners continue the current good spell, end the season on a semi-high and show those thinking of jumping ship there’s more to come from the Gunners?

Arsenal v Everton: Everton’s European Finish Gunned Down in Flames?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

I by no means wish to sound patronising but I’m starting to really feel for Everton. For a long stretch of the season, they were strong contenders for fourth; now it’s possible they won’t even get fifth and that I feel would be a strong injustice.

Derby v Arsenal: Gunners to Slaughter the Rams?

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Do you really need any advice on who to back in this Premier 10 match? I seriously doubt it but I’ll give you my opinion anyway. It’s my job after all. Does anyone think that the relegated Rams can shock the Premier League and beat Arsene Wenger’s young guns? The answer in all likelihood is no. The worst side in Premier League history entertains a wounded Arsenal side determined to end the season on a relative high. It all points to yet another dismal Derby defeat this weekend.

Arsenal v Reading: Gunners Gain Lost Confidence from Royals Rout?

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Arsene Wenger’s young guns have seen their season of glory ended after defeats at both Anfield and Old Trafford in the space of 5 days. This weekend they entertain a Royals side who have been slowly dragged back into the relegation scrap and who possess an abysmal historic record against the North Londoners.

Manchester United v Arsenal: Another Gunners Season Turns into a Nightmare at the Theatre of Dreams?

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

The Gunners season is effectively over if they fail to beat United this weekend but that looks a tall order after a heart-breaking late Champions League quarter-final defeat at Liverpool in midweek.

Arsenal v Liverpool: The Gunners Strike Back in Part 2 of this Epic Trilogy?

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

This will be the second of 3 clashes between these sides in the space of just 7 days. The two teams drew 1-1 in the Champions League Quarter-final 1st leg at the Emirates on Wednesday night but this Saturday’s encounter may not be of as much importance to Liverpool at least. The Reds only chance of silverware this season is winning in Europe and despite a battle with Merseyside rivals Everton for the 4th Premier League spot, the current 5 point gap should be enough. Therefore Premier 10 players shouldn’t be surprised in Rafa Benitez decides to do a spot of rotation ahead of the 2nd leg at Anfield.
