Tony Cascarino’s Column: Views on Newcastle, Portsmouth, Hull, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Portsmouth, Millwall & Man City

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

We have a break from the thrills and spills of the Premier League this week with another round of World Cup qualifiers. Now a lot has been made of Fabio Capello’s decision to exclude Michael Owen again from the squad but for me it’s hardly surprising.

John Barnes Column: Thoughts on Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Manchester United, Hull, Newcastle, Portsmouth & Man City

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

I must start by congratulating Tottenham fan Tony Morris from Harrow for his £100K jackpot win on Premier 10 last week. This was quite a feat when you consider some of the results including Bolton and Middlesbrough winning away, so well done to you. As Tony is a Tottenham fan, I’m sure it was hard for him to back Hull to win at White Hart Lane but I’m sure the cash will cheer him up after Spurs dismal start to the season.

Hull have been receiving widespread plaudits this week after beating the Gunners away at the Emirates. Liverpool legend and Football Pools Pundit Alan Hansen has also added his praise to the club, “I would like to start by congratulating Hull on an incredible result at the Emirates on Saturday.

Phil Brown’s Brave Approach at Arsenal & Quality Buys Secret to Hull Success Says Former Chelsea & Aston Villa Star

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Football Pools Pundit and former Republic of Ireland star Tony Cascarino has praised Hull’s performance last weekend at Arsenal and their summer transfers. He praised the Tigers manager by commenting, “This weekend we saw what can happen if your transfer policy works for you with Hull’s win at the Emirates. Tigers manager Phil Brown was very brave in his selection at Arsenal playing both Marlon King and Daniel Cousin up front rather than doing what most sides do and flood the midfield away at the Emirates. This brave approach paid off big time.”

Alan Hansen’s Column: Thoughts on Liverpool, Hull, Spurs, Arsenal, Everton, Wigan, Newcastle & Chelsea

Monday, September 29th, 2008

I would like to start by congratulating Hull on an incredible result at the Emirates on Saturday. I thought the Tigers were absolutely magnificent on the day to become only the 2nd team to beat Arsenal at their fabulous stadium.Hull’s equalising strike must be a contender for goal of the season and it sums up Phil Brown’s side’s great start to the season. Usually for the promoted sides their home form is key to survival but 7 points from 9 available on the road is remarkable. They have shown they are a well organised outfit with quality going forward so Phil Brown and the Hull fans must be absolutely delighted with their start.

Hull Boss Phil Brown Defends Bolton Striker Kevin Davies Tackle on Arsenal Star: Was the Challenge a ‘Disgrace’ or Fair?

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Last weekend Bolton’s Kevin Davies was vilified for a challenge on Arsenal’s Gael Clichy in his side’s 3-1 home defeat to the Gunners. The young left-back had to leave the field which left Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger enraged. The Frenchman said, “We have no problem with people being physical when they play us - that is a charming part of the game.

Arsenal v Hull City: Tigers Mauled at the Emirates?

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

It’s been a long time since these two clubs last met in a League match. In fact, it’s been a total of 93 years since Hull beat Arsenal 1-0 at home. This was the year that the great Stanley Matthews was born and American Baseball legend Babe Ruth hit his first home run. Therefore, Hull fans will be getting their first glimpse of the Emirates and unfortunately for them, will be facing a Gunners team, top of the table and in superb form.

Hull v Everton: Tigers Come Unstuck Against the Toffees?

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

This will only be the 7th time these two teams have met in League competition in history with both clubs currently on three wins apiece. In fact these teams have not faced eachother in 44 years since clashing in the FA Cup. Only a point separates the two sides in the Premier League with Hull currently 5th after losing just once in their 4 games. However, they’re facing an Everton team that has won both of their away games this season.

Alan Hansen’s Column: Thoughts on Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Newcastle & West Brom

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

It was a great day for my old club Liverpool on Saturday as they finally ended their poor run against Manchester United. This was significant for a number of reasons namely that not only did the team achieve a great result but they also played well too. Rafa’s team hadn’t played well in their opening 3 games so this was a huge improvement particularly in the second half.
