Arsenal are reportedly stepping up their interest in Sporting Lisbon’s talented young midfielder Miguel Veloso in a bid to bring the player to the Emirates in January. The international’s agent Paulo Barbosa declared this week, “Arsenal want Veloso for the future and a deal could be done in the January window.” However, ominously for the North Londoners he added, “But (Manchester) United are also watching the situation very closely.”

Miguel Veloso’s agent Paulo Barbosa, has suggested that the star will remain at Sporting Lisbon unless a suitable offer comes in for the player this summer. Barbosa said, “He will not leave just for the sake of leaving, only for a club with a different dimension and is good for him and Sporting.” He ruled out a move to any of Europe’s weaker clubs stating,”Miguel will not leave for an average club that cannot match his expectations or surpass what Miguel could do at Sporting.”
