Rafa Benitez Hints at ‘Big Name’ Liverpool Signings: Is Robbie Keane One of Them?

Rafa Benitez has added more fuel to the fire concerning the arrival of ‘big name’ signings to Anfield with Robbie Keane one of a number of players reportedly targeted. He’s dismissed the potential signing of Valencia’s David Villa as someone the club has looked at but “at this moment, not our target”. However, he stressed that the Reds had been in contact with Tottenham over the Irish Captain’s availability and that the club are “still working” on a possible move.

Former Liverpool Assistant Heading to Manchester United: Is Rafa’s Worst Nightmare Coming True?

Former Liverpool Assistant coach Pako Ayesteran is reportedly Sir Alex Ferguson’s main target as replacement for Carlos Queiroz who looks set to take over as the new Portugese national teach coach this summer. This move could throw a huge spanner in the works of Rafa Benitez’s plans to topple United’s current 2-season dominance of the Premier League as well as dent the Reds title ambitions.

Liverpool to Finally Sign £10million French International Winger

The Reds are being linked once again with Florent Malouda the player who turned Liverpool down last summer to join Chelsea. He has hardly set the Premier League alight since his £13.5million move from Lyon after an injury ravaged season. Despite a stop-start debut campaign Malouda has made 37 appearances for the Blues (28 starts) and scored just 4 goals. It would be no surprise if Chelsea were looking to offload the 27-year-old but is he the sort of player Liverpool should be looking to sign?

Liverpool v Middlesbrough - Boro Put the Boot Into Benitez as Reds Fail to Win Again?

The most successful English club ever are currently in crisis, the current owners are at loggerheads with each other, the manager is living on borrowed time and the underperforming star players lurch from one embarrassing domestic performance to the next. That just about sums of life at Anfield at the moment, the once great powerhouse of English football is now struggling to finish in the top four positions in the Premier League. Defeat at home to Barnsley in the FA Cup has left the Reds with only one route to silverware left, the Champions League.

Rafa Benitez is in serious need of a win after going over a month without picking up all 3 points in the Premier League. The club’s last win was a rather fortunate last minute 2-1 away victory at the rock bottom Rams on Boxing Day. Since then Liverpool have gone 5 League matches without a win, they’ve drawn 4 and lost once (at West Ham on Wednesday).
