St Mirren v Rangers: Buddies Remain Bottom as Rangers Run Goes On?

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Rangers travel to St Mirren looking to extend their unbeaten League run this season. It looks very likely that run will continue this weekend as the Buddies remain marooned at the bottom of the SPL whereas the Gers are sitting pretty at the top.

Hibernian v Rangers: Red Hot Rangers Remain Top?

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Unbeaten Rangers travel to Easter Road to meet 4th placed Hibs aiming to end a sequence of two goalless draws in the past two away encounters with the Edinburgh side. However, the Glasgow giants remain unbeaten in their last five meetings in all competitions with Hibernian (3 wins) and I would expect that run to continue.

Rangers v Motherwell: Another Ger-ate Result for Rangers

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

The last time Motherwell beat Rangers at Ibrox was in 1997 - a 2-0 win, with both goals scored by Owen Coyle - and with Ranger the only remaining unbeaten side in the SPL, it’s asking a lot for Motherwell to put an end to that 11 year run here particularly when you learn Rangers haven’t failed to score in the last 18 SPL games against Motherwell.

Rangers v Kilmarnock: The Gers End Killies Unbeaten Record?

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Rangers enter this home encounter with everything pointing towards a home win after their impressive victory at Celtic last week. In fact, this looks one of the biggest home bankers of the weekend’s fixtures so if you want to win £200,000 on Footy 15 this match looks a definite home win. After all, the Killies have a poor record against the Ibrox giants.

John Barnes Column: Views on Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Man City, Rangers, Celtic, West Ham & Newcastle

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

This weekend sees the two richest clubs go head to head at Eastlands in an exciting encounter with Chelsea determined to teach the Man City upstarts a lesson. For me, Chelsea are the best team in the country so I would advise you to back the away side on Footy 15 this weekend especially with £200,000 up for grabs. It will be interesting to see City’s new signing Robinho in action as he is expected to make his debut in this match though I personally expect him to take time to bed into playing for Manchester City and to adapt to English football in general.

Celtic v Rangers: One for the Bhoys in the Auld Firm Derby

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

This will be the 380th Auld Firm derby with both of these sides undefeated in the SPL so far this season and having scored in all three of their league matches. But as we all know, the rule book and form guide tends to go out the window when a grudge match such as this occurs. That said, it’s always worth checking out the good old stats and data and the stats and data strongly point in Celtic’s favour.

Rangers v Hearts: Walter to Win to Get Gers Smiling Again?

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Rangers are not enjoying the best of starts to the new season with the sale of their star defender Carlos Cuellar to Aston Villa on the back of crashing out of Europe to Lithuanian side Kaunas. However, the weekend’s match against Hearts should put a smile back on the Gers fans faces as they possess an excellent record at Ibrox against the Edinburgh giants.

Mark Bresciano: Socceroo’s Serie A Star Chased by Rangers, Newcastle, Fulham, Blackburn and West Ham

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Reports today suggest that Rangers have bid £4m for Australian midfielder Mark Bresciano though they may well face stiff competition from a number of Premier League clubs for the Serie A star. It’s thought that West Ham, Blackburn, Newcastle and Fulham are all interested in the left-sided midfelder’s services. The 28-year-old is available after spending the last two seasons with Serie A side Palermo where he’s frequently become a bit-part player.

Kris Boyd: Rangers Prolific Striker Up for Grabs? Perfect for Sunderland, Everton, Man City, Hull & West Brom

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Rangers striker Kris Boyd may well be surplus to requirements at Ibrox this summer after Walter Smith brought in 3 new strikers to the club in the shape of Kenny Miller, Andrius Velicka and Kyle Lafferty. The need to sell may have been increased following Rangers surprising exit from Europe last week despite last season’s big money departure of Alan Hutton to Spurs and Carlos Cuellar’s £7.8m move to Aston Villa this week.

Press reports suggest a number of the biggest clubs in Britain are battling it out for the service of young Czech starlet Marek Suchy this summer.
