You can’t help feeling a little bit sorry for the current FA Cup champions. I mean how unlucky it is to face Chelsea and then Manchester United in your opening two games of the season! But while Chelsea stuck an impressive four past them, few expect them to concede anywhere near as many.

On paper this fixture looks a certain Premier 10 ‘home banker’ but when you consider that United have lost their last 3 matches against the Hammers this Premier 10 match takes on a whole different light. It’s also worth considering that the East Londoners have won on 3 of their last 6 trips to the Theatre of Dreams in all competitions. Is it squeaky bum time for the Red Devils? You’d better believe it!

The two title contenders enter the final weekend of the season with the destination of the Premier League trophy still in the balance. As we all know Manchester United can clinch the title if they win at Wigan this weekend but even a defeat or a draw could still seen them triumph if they better or match Chelsea’s result. The Red Devils are in pole position and rightly so in my opinion. After all, United have been undoubtedly the thoroughbreds in what has ended as a 2-horse title race.

When Avram Grant lost his first match in charge of Chelsea at Old Trafford back in September the Blues were written off as title challengers. However, 7 months down the line the Israeli has led Chelsea to within 3 points of leaders Manchester United with 3 games left to play. This is a must win match for the home side if they are to stand any chance of overcoming the Red Devils and to be fair with a home record like theirs anything is possible.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s Red Devils are in seemingly unstoppable form both domestically and in Europe at the present time. After crushing Roma in the first leg of the Champions League Quarter-final in midweek, they can now afford to pick their strongest line-up for this important trip to the Riverside knowing they’ve one foot in the Semi-finals.

Up until a few weeks ago this match looked like a potential banana skin for the Red Devils as the Villans had picked up impressive draws this season at Stamford Bridge, the Emirates and Anfield. However, a recent run of poor results coupled with an appalling record against United marks this match down as a Premier 10 home win.

Harry Redknapp hasn’t enjoyed many of his trips to Old Trafford in his managerial career as his record illustrates. Harry’s record at the Theatre of Dreams reads played 15, lost 14 and won just the once.
