Who Do Manchester City Fans Want to Replace Sven at Eastlands?

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

The Sven Goran Eriksson Saga is finally over at Manchester City after the club finally announced that the Swede has departed with the Mexican national job his likely destination. Now that the debacle is finally over, club owner Thaksin Shinawatra has to find a replacement to appease the fans who had generally taken Eriksson to their hearts after a good first season.

Are Manchester City’s Stars up for Sale? Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle Wait in the Wings

Friday, May 16th, 2008

Press reports have suggested that club owner Thaksin Shinawatra has lost patience with the City squad and will listen to offers for any one of his players. If this is true and you certainly wouldn’t put it past him after recent events, the Citizens may have to endure a disappointing summer.

Is Big Phil Scolari Really the Right Man for Manchester City?

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

The Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari or ‘Big Phil’ as he is affectionately known seems destined to succeed Sven Goran Eriksson in the Manchester City hotseat. But is the current Portuguese national boss the right man to replace the outgoing Swede?

Manchester City’s Owner is Punching Above his Weight; Try Taking a Look at Sunderland.

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Loyalty and football rarely go hand in hand nowadays. One mistake can be the difference between a manager remaining in charge or losing his job regardless of all the good he had done prior to that. These billionaire owners fail to recognise improvement, only seeing missed opportunities (and ultimately missed money). That’s exactly what’s happened down at Eastlands with Sven’s likely exit come May 11th. I think Dr. Shinawatra should take a leaf out of Niall Quinn’s book.

Liverpool v Manchester City: European Heartbreak Comes Back to Give Sven a Headache

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Liverpool’s season effectively ended last night after being knocked out of the Champions League, losing 4-3 to Chelsea on aggregate. So with the Reds playing solely for that proverbial pride, how much desire is there left in the tank?

Should Manchester City be Targeting one of these Men to Replace Sven at Eastlands?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

So Sven Goran Eriksson’s short 9-month reign at Eastlands looks soon to be at an end. Thai owner Thaksin Shinawatra is expected to wield the managerial axe after City’s two remaining Premier League matches.

Citizens Cane Shinawatra: Is this the Sven-d of the Road for Eriksson at Eastlands?

Monday, April 21st, 2008

So Sven-Goran Eriksson’s position is supposedly under threat after only 9 months in the Manchester City managerial hot seat. Despite a season that’s seen more arrivals at Eastlands than there are angry customers at Heathrow’s Terminal 5, Thai owner Thaksin Shinawatra has claimed he will review the Swede’s position at the end of this campaign following a lacklustre second-half to the season. Should Eriksson be under-pressure so early in his City tenure, in my opinion and those of the majority of the club’s fans, the answer is a resounding No!

MAN CITY v ARSENAL - CITY TO SAY ADE-‘BYE’-OR TO THEIR UNBEATEN HOME RECORD?

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Sven Goran Eriksson’s City side remain unbeaten in the Premier League at Eastlands but if history is anything to go by, Arsenal will test that record to the full. The Gunners have a superb recent record against City with just 1 defeat in the last 21 encounters home and away (17 wins). The Citizens single victory over Wenger’s young guns in just over 16 years came last season in a rare 1-0 home win. City are certainly not the pushovers they once were as a home win over United and a draw with Liverpool would suggest. However, after 3 successive home draws, City are not looking the all-conquering outfit they were at the start of the season.

MANCHESTER CITY v WEST HAM - ERIKSSON’S DÉJÀ VU DELIGHT?

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

These two sides meet for the 2nd time in four days after City beat West Ham 1-0 in the FA Cup 3rd round replay at Eastlands on Wednesday night. The Citizens have a good recent record of 5 matches unbeaten against the Hammers in all competitions, including 4 wins. In fact West Ham have not managed to breach the City defence in those 5 games. The East Londoners have an equally poor record at City’s ground after picking up just 1 win in their last 11 League visits to Manchester (8 defeats & 2 draws). So City are starting to look a strong Premier 10 pick this weekend.

EVERTON v MANCHESTER CITY - CITIZENS TO EARN A POINT AT GOODISON?

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

Both sides are enjoying superb seasons with only 3 points separating the two clubs in the Premier League. The respective managers have used very different methods to reach the level of success they have enjoyed this season. David Moyes has gradually built up a strong squad after almost 6 years at the Everton helm, whereas Sven Goran Eriksson spent heavily to totally overhaul his playing staff after arriving in the summer.
