They may have paid the penalty for their disastrous first leg performances but Everton and Tottenham should both take more from their matches last night that just sad regrets.
What a difference a day makes. Yesterday we were talking about British Clubs dominating the European Cup Competitions; now, after a nightmare night for both Everton and Tottenham as well as a less than perfect scoreline for Bolton, we’re asking - Have the English Clubs blown their Uefa dreams?
The yoyo string that is Everton’s Premiership journey has finally snapped. No longer are they the league’s unpredictables; instead they are now a squad with pace, strength and an almost Premier 10 dead cert. Gritty rather than pretty at times, Moyes’ men have simply been getting the job done.
With everyone’s attention turned towards the red side of the city, Everton are perhaps not being given the praise and admiration they deserve. Bearing down on their local rivals in that precious fourth Champion’s League spot is enough to even soothe not being involved in the 4th round of the FA Cup at the weekend.
