Classic Pools: 13th – 15th January

We’ve looked through the British fixtures in our Classic Pools competition and picked ten we’ve think could end in score draws this weekend.

Burnley may have to settle for a point against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Nottingham Forest will hope to carry their success from the weekend’s FA Cup win over Arsenal. While in League One there is no love lost between Mk Dons and AFC Wimbledon.

2 - Crystal Palace (14th PL) v Burnley (7th)

Burnley have the better of their recent head to head, winning both league encounters last season and getting a 1-0 win in the reverse this term.

Crystal Palace just lost out to Brighton in the FA Cup on Monday night but they’ve avoided defeat in eight of their last nine at home.

Burnley’s last win was against Stoke in December, they’ve drawn three and lost three of their six matches since.

3 - Huddersfield (11th) v West Ham (15th)

West Ham scored both goals in the last twenty minutes of the game to beat Huddersfield 2-0 in the reverse fixture in September.

Huddersfield have only lost three of their eleven league home games this season, but they’ve also leaked more goals than they’ve scored on home turf.

West Ham are unbeaten in four matches but three of them were draws. They followed a 1-1 draw at Tottenham in their last league game with a 0-0 draw at Shrewsbury in the FA Cup.

6 – Watford (10th) v Southampton (17th)

Southampton nicked a 4-3 win visiting Watford in the Premier League last season. The Hornets won the reverse this term 2-0.

Seven of Watford’s last ten matches have ended in defeat, but they won 3-0 hosting Championship side Bristol City in the FA Cup last weekend.

Southampton ended a nine-game winless run by beating Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

11 - Bristol City (4th Chp) v Norwich (13th)

They drew 1-1 in this fixture last season and had a goalless draw when they met for the first time this term at Carrow Road.

An injury time goal from Sergio Aguero stole a 2-1 win for Manchester City in the first-leg of their League Cup semi-final with Bristol City on Tuesday night.

Norwich drew 0-0 with Chelsea in the FA Cup on Saturday to remain unbeaten in their last four matches.

12 - Burton (22nd) v QPR (17th)

Three of their four meetings since July 2016 have ended in draws, including a 0-0 stalemate in the reverse fixture back in September.

Burton started picking up some points since mid-December winning three of their last six matches, including a 3-0 away win over Sheffield Wednesday in their last league game. They were knocked out of the FA Cup in a 1-0 defeat to Birmingham on Saturday.

QPR have avoided defeat in four of their last six games but went out of the FA Cup after a 1-0 loss to MK Dons last weekend.

They had a 2-2 draw at Aston Villa last season before Nottingham Forest won 2-1 at home. Villa won 2-1 in the reverse fixture in September.

Nottingham Forest have failed to win their last five league matches, but won 4-2 hosting FA Cup holders Arsenal last Sunday.

Aston Villa smashed Bristol City 5-0 in their last league game but lost 3-1 to Peterborough in the FA Cup last Saturday.

25 - Milton K Dons (19th L1) v AFC Wimbledon (21st)

They both won at home when they met in League One last term, MK Dons won 2-0 visiting Wimbledon this season.

MK Dons beat Peterborough 1-0 in their last league home game, followed that with a 3-1 defeat at Oxford before winning 1-0 at QPR in the FA Cup.

AFC Wimbledon beat Southend 2-0 in their last league match on New Year’s Day, but were beaten 3-0 by Tottenham in the FA Cup last Sunday.

27 - Portsmouth (6th) v Scunthorpe (4th)

Scunthorpe have won their last four meetings with Portsmouth including their 2-0 win in the reverse fixture this season.

Portsmouth have won their last six matches on home turf beating Northampton 3-1 in the latest.

Scunthorpe have only lost one of their last thirteen league matches. A 1-0 win over Bury on the 1st of January keeps them unbeaten in five.

30 - Wigan (1st) v Peterborough (9th)

A 90th minute goal stole a 3-2 win for Peterborough in the reverse fixture in September.

Current League One leaders Wigan are unbeaten in eleven matches and drew 2-2 with Premier League side Bournemouth in the FA Cup last Saturday.

Peterborough have only lost two of their last eleven matches and beat Aston Villa 3-1 away in the FA Cup last weekend.

Notts County won 4-1 in the reverse league encounter in September, but Lincoln won 2-1 hosting them in the League Trophy competition in November.

Lincoln were beaten 4-2 at Luton on New Year’s Day but they’ve won their last five matches at home.

Notts County have only lost one of their last twelve matches. They had a 1-0 victory over Brentford in the FA Cup last weekend.
