Classic Pools: 16th – 20th June
The World Cup kicks-off in Russia and an out of sorts Germany begin their title defence against a Mexican side who can spoil the party. Another close battle could be Peru v Denmark, who both enter the competition in good form. We’ve provided head to head and recent form statistics for ten fixtures we think could end in score draws in our Classic Pools competition this weekend.
6 - Germany v Mexico
Their last meeting was Germany’s 4-1 win over Mexico in the Confederations Cup semi-finals in June of last year.
Germany went five matches without a win before finally getting a narrow 2-1 victory over Saudi Arabia in their last warm-up game.
Mexico drew 0-0 with Wales, beat Scotland 1-0 and lost 2-0 to Denmark in their three most recent friendly matches.

8 - Peru v Denmark
Their only other meeting was a US Cup match in 1997 that Denmark won 2-1.
Entering their first World Cup in 36 years, Peru are unbeaten in their last fifteen matches winning ten and drawing five.
Denmark have only lost two of their last seventeen matches and are unbeaten in their last four. They beat Mexico 2-0 in their final warm-up game last Saturday.

9 - Poland v Senegal
This will be the first ever meeting between Poland and Senegal.
Poland had a 2-2 draw with Chile last weekend and beat Lithuania 4-0 in their last friendly before the tournament on Tuesday.
In their five friendly matches this year Senegal had draws with Uzbekistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Luxembourg, before losing 2-1 to Croatia and beating South Korea 2-0 on Monday.
12 - Sweden v South Korea
They met for two friendlies in 2005 and drew 1-1 in neutral California and 2-2 in Seoul.
Sweden drew 0-0 with both Denmark and Peru in their final warm-up matches this month.
South Korea’s only success in their last six friendly matches was a 2-0 win over Honduras last month. They followed that with a 2-1 defeat to Bosnia-Herzegovina, a 0-0 draw with Bolivia and a 2-0 defeat to Senegal.

19 - Nest Sotra v Viking
Their only other meeting was a cup match in 2003 that Viking won 3-0.
Nest Sotra have lost three of their last four league matches but won 1-0 hosting current leaders Aalesund in their last home game.
Viking’s promising start to the season has taken a dive and they’ve lost their last three league games on the spin.

20 - Notodden v Kongsvinger
These two haven’t met since Notodden won 2-0 at home and 2-1 away in Division 2 – Group 1 meetings in 2014.
Notodden are a point ahead of Kongsvinger and have only lost one of their last four league games. They won 1-0 hosting Sandnes in the latest.
Kongsvinger have picked up the pace and come into this after winning their last three league games on the bounce.

21 - Sandnes v Aalesund
They last met in 2014 where Aalesund won both fixtures 3-0 at home and 2-1 away.
Sandnes come into this with three league defeats in a row, but their 3-0 loss hosting Kongsvinger earlier this month is their only league loss in six on home turf.
Leaders Aalesund may have recovered from some disappointing results, after losing back to back league matches they beat Ull/Kisa 3-2 last weekend.

23 - GAIS v Degerfors
When they met in the Swedish second tier last season Degerfors won 2-1 at home and GAIS had a 1-0 win on their turn to host.
GAIS had two wins and then two draws in their last four league matches. They drew 4-4 with Orgryte in their midweek fixture.
Degerfors were five league games unbeaten before losing 4-1 at Helsingborg last Sunday.

24 - Gefle v Osters
When they met last season Osters had a 3-1 win on the road before a 1-1 draw at home.
Gefle have only won two of their twelve league matches this season and have only managed 3-points in their last eight.
Osters ended a three-game losing streak with a 3-0 victory hosting Norrby last Saturday.

26 - Jonkopping v Falkenbergs
Their last meetings were in Sweden’s top-tier Allsvenskan in 2016, they had a 1-1 draw before Jonkopping won 5-0 on the road.
Jonkopping are unbeaten in their last four league matches at home but three of them were draws.
Leaders Falkenbergs have only lost one of their twelve league matches this season, they’ve won eight and drawn three.
