Who's hot and who's not in this week's £1 Million Goal Rush
Newcastle and Southampton hover perilously above the drop zone so we could see goals at both ends when they meet at St James’ Park. Burnley have struggled for goals on the road and could blank again at West Ham. We’ve picked five fixtures that are hot and five that are not when it comes to both teams scoring in our Goal Rush competition this weekend.
4 - Newcastle v Southampton
The last four meetings between these teams score had both sides score, including the reverse fixture this season which finished 2-2.
Newcastle were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool in their last match but they’ve found the net in their previous seven league matches.
Seven of Southampton’s last ten league matches had both teams score, including their last three on the road.
5 - West Brom v Leicester
Six of their last eight encounters had both teams score, they drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture this season.
West Brom have scored in their last five matches at the Hawthorns, they were beaten 2-1 by Huddersfield in the latest.
Leicester’s last five league games had goals from both sides, three of the games finished 1-1.
14 - Preston North End v Fulham
Their last six meetings had both teams score, including the reverse fixture this season which finished 2-2.
Eight of Preston’s last ten league matches featured both teams scoring, they beat Bristol City 2-1 on Tuesday night.
Fulham are currently the highest scoring team in the Championship this season with 62 goals in 36 matches. They beat Sheffield United 3-0 on Tuesday.
29 - Wigan A v Scunthorpe
Wigan beat Scunthorpe 2-1 in the reverse fixture this season. Both teams have scored 10 goals within the first 15-minutes of their league matches this season.
Wigan have only failed to score in one of their last six league matches, they drew 2-2 visiting Blackburn last weekend.
Nine of Scunthorpe’s last ten league matches featured both teams scoring, along with their last seven league games on the road.
33 - Hamilton v Motherwell
Motherwell beat Hamilton 2-0 in the Scottish Cup in January, in the Premiership this season Motherwell won 2-1 away before Hamilton won 3-1 away.
Hamilton lost 5-3 hosting Rangers last month but followed that with a 2-1 win over Partick.
Motherwell have only failed to score in two of their last ten league matches.
6 - West Ham v Burnley
Chris Wood equalised for Burnley in the 85th minute to draw 1-1 in the reverse fixture at Turf Moor in October.
West Ham have been beaten 4-1 by both Liverpool and Swansea in their last two matches, Michail Antonio scored both Hammers goals.
Burnley have only scored twelve goals on the road in the Premier League this season, they’ve blanked in five of their last seven league games on the road.
8 - Burton A v Bristol City
Their last two meetings have both finished 0-0, including the reverse fixture this term.
Only Birmingham have scored fewer goals than Burton in the Championship this season, they’ve blanked in four of their last five league matches.
Bristol City have failed to find the net in four of their last six league games on the road.
9 - Cardiff v Birmingham
Birmingham managed a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture with Cardiff in October.
Along with leaders Wolves, Cardiff boast the joint best defensive record in the Championship this season. They’ve kept clean sheets in four of their last five league matches.
Lowest scoring team Birmingham have found the net just once in their last six league matches.
20 - Bradford City v Milton K Dons
Bradford smashed MK Dons 4-1 in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Bradford have failed to score in three of their last six league matches, including their 1-0 defeat to Plymouth in their last outing.
Only Bury have scored fewer goals than MK Dons in League One this season, they’ve scored only twice in their last five league matches.
26 - Rotherham United v Rochdale
Rotherham scored 12-minutes into the second-half to beat Rochdale 1-0 in the reverse fixture this season.
Rotherham have won their last seven league matches and kept clean sheets in four of the games.
Rochdale failed to score against MK Dons and Wigan before beating Walsall 3-0 in their last three league games.
