Both teams to score on the weekend

Millwall had a great win over promotion chasing Sheffield United last weekend and can get on the scoresheet against Aston Villa.  Sunderland continue to struggle to win games but have consistently found the net this season and should score against leaders Wolverhampton.  We’ve picked five fixtures you may want to consider for both teams to score and five where it looks less likely.

Who’s Hot:

7 - Aston Villa v Millwall

Both Aston Villa and Millwall have scored five of their league goals within the first fifteen minutes of the match this season.

Aston Villa have leaked goals in four of their last five matches and had three wins on the spin before drawing 1-1 with Leeds last weekend.

Millwall have avoided defeat in three of their four encounters with teams in the top five of the Championship this season. They beat Sheffield United 3-1 last weekend.

13 - Norwich v Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday smashed Norwich 5-1 in their last encounter which was at Hillsborough back in March of this year.

Norwich have scored in all but three of their ten league home games this season. They were beaten 3-1 at Cardiff last Friday.

Sheffield Wednesday have conceded seven times in the first fifteen minutes of the match this season, only Nottingham Forest have leaked more goals in that time.

16 - Wolves v Sunderland

Nine of the last ten league encounters between Wolves and Sunderland had both teams score.

Wolves are the top scoring team in the Championship this season with forty-one goals in twenty matches.  They won 5-1 hosting lowly Bolton in their last home game.

Sunderland may have only won two of their twenty league matches this season but they’ve scored in sixteen of those games.

18 - Bradford City v Rochdale

Five of their last eight league encounters had goals at both ends. Last season Bradford won 4-0 at home before a 1-1 draw at Rochdale.

Bradford won 3-1 hosting Plymouth in the FA Cup last weekend but were beaten 1-0 in a midweek League Trophy tie with Oldham.

Four of Rochdale’s last five on the road had both teams score, but they won 4-0 visiting Slough in the FA Cup on Monday night.

22 - Milton K Dons v Shrewsbury

Five of their last eight league encounters had both teams score including this fixture last season which MK Dons won 2-1.

MK Dons are unbeaten in their last five home matches but only managed one clean sheet in that period. They won 4-1 hosting Maidstone in the FA Cup last Saturday.

Shrewsbury haven’t managed a clean sheet on the road since August.

Who’s Not:

2 - Crystal Palace v Bournemouth

Crystal Palace equalised in the 3rd minute of added time to draw 1-1 when they hosted Bournemouth last season.

Crystal Palace are joint lowest scorers with Swansea in the Premier League this season but have proven to be a tough team to beat recently, losing just one of their last six. Their last two games finished in goalless draws with Brighton and West Brom.

Bournemouth have lacked goals on the road this season and drew their last away trip 0-0 with Swansea.

3 - Huddersfield v Brighton & Hove Albion

These two met in the Championship last season with Brighton winning 1-0 at home and Huddersfield winning 3-1 at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Huddersfield have lost their last four on the spin and have only managed two goals in their last six.

A penalty got Brighton on the scoresheet in their 5-1 defeat to Liverpool last weekend, but they drew a blank against Manchester United and Crystal Palace in their two previous games.

5 - Swansea v West Brom

Jonny Evans scored for the Baggies when they lost 2-1 at Swansea last season, but they failed to get a goal in their two previous visits to the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea have failed to score in four of their last five Premier League matches, but Wilfried Bony put them ahead before they lost 2-1 to Stoke last weekend.

West Brom have found the net only twice in their last five league matches on the road and they drew 0-0 hosting Crystal Palace last Saturday.

10 - Fulham v Birmingham

Birmingham won 1-0 both at home and away in their league meetings with Fulham last season.

Fulham have been hit and miss at home in the past few weeks losing 2-0 to Bristol City, drawing 1-1 with Derby and winning 1-0 over Millwall in the latest.

Birmingham could only manage two goals in their last eight league games.

23 - Oldham v Northampton

Only one of the last five times Oldham and Northampton have met at Boundary Park have both teams scored.

Oldham have failed to score in their last three league matches but had a 1-0 win visiting Bradford in the League Trophy competition on Tuesday.

Northampton have failed to score in their last five matches, three League One games, a FA Cup tie with Scunthorpe and a League Trophy clash with Portsmouth last weekend they lost 2-0.
