Goal Rush: 2nd – 3rd June
Germany can win to nil in their friendly clash with Austria and Spain are likely to keep it clean hosting Switzerland. But a meeting between Belgium and Portugal should produce goals, along with a clash at the top of the Brazilian Serie A between last season’s winners Corinthians and Flamengo. Check out who’s hot and who’s not when it comes to both teams scoring in our Goal Rush competition this weekend.
2 - Belgium v Portugal
They met in Euro qualifiers in 2007 and Portugal won 4-0 at home and 2-1 away. Their last encounter was a friendly in 2016 which Portugal won 2-1 at home.
Belgium have been scoring plenty of goals, netting three or more times in four of their last five matches. They won 4-0 hosting Saudi Arabia for friendly in March.
Portugal were beaten 3-0 by the Netherlands in a friendly in March and were held to a 2-2 draw in their latest warm-up with Tunisia on Monday.
19 - Flamengo v Corinthians
When they met in the Brazilian Serie A last season they drew 1-1 at Corinthians before Flamengo won 3-0 at home.
Flamengo have only failed to score in one of the last five times they’ve hosted Corinthians.
Corinthians’ last two league matches on the road ended in a 1-1 draw with Sport Recife and a 2-1 loss to Internacional.
22 - Santos v Vitoria
Four of their six encounters had both teams score, they drew 2-2 when Santos hosted Vitoria last season.
In their three league home games this season Santos had a 2-0 win over Ceara, a 3-1 win over Parana and a 1-0 loss to Cruzeiro in the latest.
All four of Vitoria’s league away matches this term had goals from sides, they lost the first two games 2-1 before a 3-2 win and a 1-1 draw with Botafogo last time out.
27 - FC Dallas v Los Angeles FC
They drew 1-1 when they met for the reverse fixture at the beginning of May.
Five of FC Dallas’ seven league home games this season had both teams score, they drew 2-2 with Vancouver in the latest.
Four of Los Angeles’ last five league matches featured both teams scoring, they had a 1-1 draw with DC United last Sunday.
30 - New York City FC v Orlando City
Six of the last ten MLS meetings between New York City and Orlando had both sides find the net. In their most recent clash New York won 2-0 in the replica fixture back in March.
New York have scored eleven goals in their last three league games at home but were beaten 3-1 visiting Houston last weekend.
Ten of Orlando’s twelve league matches this season had goals at both ends, including the last six on the spin. They were beaten by a score of 2-1 in the last three.
1 - Austria v Germany
They last met for World Cup qualifiers in 2012 and 2013 where Germany won 2-1 away and 3-0 on home soil.
Austria have kept clean sheets in their last three matches, they beat Russia 1-0 in a friendly on Wednesday.
Germany’s last four matches have all been friendlies and finished in a 0-0 draw with England, a 2-2 draw with France, a 1-1 draw with Spain and a 1-0 loss to Brazil in the latest.
3 - Brazil v Croatia
Neymar scored a brace and Marcelo scored an own goal when Brazil beat Croatia 3-1 in a group stage match at the World Cup in 2014.
Brazil have only leaked one goal in their last six matches. They beat Germany 1-0 in their most recent game.
Croatia’s last three matches have been a 0-0 draw with Greece, a 2-0 defeat to Peru and a 1-0 win over Mexico.
10 - Montenegro v Slovenia
The last meeting between these two finished in a 1-1 draw in a friendly back in 2007.
Montenegro have failed to score in two of their last three matches, they drew 0-0 with Bosnia-Herzegovina on Monday.
Slovenia have blanked in three of their last four games and were beaten 2-0 by Belarus in the latest.
13 - Spain v Switzerland
Switzerland won 1-0 in their last encounter with Spain, which was a group stage match in the World Cup in South Africa in 2010.
Spain have kept five clean sheets in their last eight matches and beat Argentina 6-1 in the most recent game back in March.
Switzerland’s last match was a 6-0 win over Panama in a friendly in March.
32 - Real Salt Lake v Seattle
They met in the reverse fixture last weekend and Real Salt Lake scored just after the hour mark to win 1-0.
Real Salt Lake won 2-0 hosting Seattle in the MLS last season and a cup match they hosted in 2016 was won on penalties by Seattle after a 1-1 draw.
Prior to losing 1-0 to Real Salt Lake last weekend Seattle lost 1-0 to Portland Timbers in their last away game.
