Soccer 6: Pool 1 - September 11th

We have games from the Premier League & Portugal in Monday’s Soccer 6 Pool 1 coupon.

West Ham have made a terrible start to the season and their opponents Huddersfield will be looking to capitalise and continue their surprise success.  Check out our previews for the matches in our Soccer 6 Pool 1 competition and start your week with a win by successfully predicting the outcome.

1 – Aalborg v Silkeborg

This is a clash at the bottom of the Danish Superliga, with Aalborg next to last on goal difference and still without a win after five draws and two losses.  Silkeborg are two points and two places above and don’t travel well, failing to win their last six on the road five of which were defeats.  Aalborg have drawn their last four league games in a row, but finally got to taste victory by winning 5-1 in extra time in a cup match last Thursday.  This is the fifth time Aalborg and Silkeborg have met in 2017, with Aalborg winning two of the three they hosted.  Aalborg home win.

2 – IFK Gothenburg V Djurgaarden

Both sides are in good form in the Swedish Allsvenskan, Gothenburg have lost just five of their twenty-one matches and are unbeaten at home with three wins and seven draws.  Djurgaarden are challenging for a Europa League spot and are currently ten points behind league leaders Malmo in second place.  Djurgaarden have avoided defeat in five of their last six meetings with Gothenburg, winning two and drawing three.  Gothenburg will look to remain unbeaten at home but they have the most draws in the division and another stalemate looks likely.  Draw.

3 – Molde V Odd Grenland

Molde lost their last two Norwegian Eliteserien matches but they were against tough opposition, they lost 2-1 to league leaders Rosenborg and 3-2 to 6th placed Stabaek.  They can get back on track hosting Odd Grenland and continue their push for a Europa League football, they are currently four points off the last qualification spot.  Odd have been inconsistent and have failed to win their last four league games on the road. Molde home win.

4 – Aves V Belenenses

Newly promoted Aves are struggling in the Portuguese top flight with one draw and three losses from their four league matches and they failed to get a goal in the three defeats.  Belenenses have had a more positive start, they lost two on the road against Benfica and Rio Ave but beat Maritimo 1-0 and drew 1-1 with Setubal last month.  Aves’ time in the top tier could be brief and Belenenses can get three points. Belenenses away win.

5 – Malaga V Las Palmas

Both teams are looking for their first points of the season having both lost their first two La Liga matches.  Malaga have yet to get a goal losing 1-0 to both Eibar and Girona, while Las Palmas followed a 1-0 loss to Valencia with a 5-1 defeat hosting Atletico Madrid.  Malaga could just have the edge in this encounter as Las Palmas tend not to travel well, they won just one of their nineteen league away matches last season.  Malaga home win or draw.

6 – West Ham V Huddersfield

They may have signed England’s Joe Hart in goal, but West Ham have conceded ten goals from their three league matches this season and remain pointless.  Manager Slaven Bilic’s future at the club looks increasingly uncertain after their 3-0 hammering from Newcastle before the international break.  Newcomers Huddersfield have surprised everyone with wins over Newcastle and Crystal Palace and a draw with Southampton.  They’re the only team in the Premier League yet to conceded a goal and can continue their success on this trip to London.  Huddersfield away win.
